Early Childhood
Solid Foundation.
Unlimited Opportunities.
In the MSD of Lawrence Township, a high quality early childhood experience is the norm, not the exception. Home to four NAEYC accredited Early Learning Centers (ELCs) and three Dual Language elementary schools housing early childhood programming, the district is a longtime leader in early childhood education.
Every aspect of the district’s four ELCs (located on the campuses of Amy Beverland, Brook Park, Mary Castle, and Winding Ridge) from the buildings to the programs and curriculum represents our commitment to providing educational and social/emotional experiences that honor and preserve childhood.
The Preschool of the Arts program (designed for children ages 3-5) focuses on individual expression and exploration in arts, music, movement, and literacy. Preschool is available at the four ELC sites, as well as at Forest Glen and Skiles Test. Full day, tuition-free kindergarten is available to students who are five years old by October 1. Kindergarten is available at the four ELC sites, as well as Forest Glen, Skiles Test, and Sunnyside.
Families interested in dual language programming for Preschool or Kindergarten can apply to attend Forest Glen Elementary, Skiles Test Elementary, or Sunnyside Elementary (Kindergarten only). Dual language programming for native Spanish speakers is also available at both ELC Brook Park and ELC Winding Ridge. For Information on our Dual Immersion program, click here.
Each building has a full resource staff available to support students who have special needs or who need additional accommodations. On-site speech, occupational, and physical therapy services are available to students who qualify.
From being NAEYC accredited to holding the highest level of recognition for Indiana's Paths to Quality, we ensure the highest-quality experiences for your children. If you have questions about Kindergarten enrollment, please call your neighborhood school. If you have questions about enrollment in Preschool of the Arts, please call 317-423-8363. We will be happy to assist you!
ELC staff love their little people and go out of their way to make sure they are learning all of the time and love school! I am so glad I made the decision to switch her to an ELC from day care. - Hadley Kinnett, Parent
